Agile World News is deeply saddened to share that Darren Thatcher passed away unexpectedly on 13 March 2026, shortly after celebrating his 58th birthday. Darren was a valued member of the agile community and someone whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of working with him.
Darren joined us for an Agile World interview in 2021, where his insight, warmth, and generosity of spirit were immediately evident. His conversation with us continues to reflect the curiosity, humour, and humanity that defined him throughout his career.
Darren was known not only for his deep professional expertise, but for the kindness, empathy, and authenticity he brought into every interaction. He touched the lives of colleagues, friends, and teams across many organisations, and he will be remembered for the person he was as much as for the work he accomplished.
His passing has left a profound sense of loss among his family, friends, and the many people who cared about him. The agile community joins them in mourning a life taken far too soon.
A fundraiser has been established to support Darren’s family with the costs of bringing him home, arranging a memorial service in the UK, and managing the many unexpected expenses that come with such a sudden loss. Anyone who knew Darren, worked with him, or simply wishes to honour his memory is welcome to contribute.
We invite you to take a moment to remember Darren today revisit his interview, share a memory, or reach out to someone you care about. His passing reminds us how quickly life can change, and how important it is to cherish the connections we have.
Rest in peace, Darren. You will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
